Climate Change Adjustment Internship in Africa

Work description Summary
Art in Tanzania is partnering with a consortium of NGOs and private sector actors to evaluate and produce solutions to the effects of climate change in Tanzanian society.

Details
Some 75% of Tanzanian people live in rural areas, and their livelihood, based on agricultural income, will be seriously affected by climate change.

The most vulnerable groups, such as women, youth, and people with disabilities, are the most affected. This program is a multi-professional student approach to evaluate the present situation, consider future scenarios, and develop solution models.

On-field advocacy work takes place in schools and communities. We also use our social media pages for advocacy work, and our Facebook pages have more than 50K followers.

You will assist in implementing sustainable solutions such as household solar installations, reuse of water and composting, and developing simple solutions such as homemade solar cookers.

The internship outcome is to learn to use your studies and experience to work in developing country conditions.

Work hours are 6-8 hours per day, Monday through Friday. Your program can be from 2 weeks to 12 months. Commonly, an internship is 2-3 months long. The placement starting dates are flexible.

Academic-level team leaders supervise your internship daily. We monitor your work with a weekly plan and report system to ensure you proceed well with your tasks.

We can take students in all year round as all programs are ongoing. Your placement is tailored to your background, experience, and interests to empower your daily work with the community.

The typical morning tasks include practical fieldwork in the schools and communities, and afternoons are for planning, reporting, and social media visibility functions.

The Benefits and Perks are as follows:

Accommodation with breakfast and dinner is EUR 175 per week and is a personal expense. However, the cost drops to EUR 125 weekly after the first 13 weeks.

Airport transfers from and to EUR 120 are a personal expense.

A charity student or volunteer VISA is USD 50 and is a personal expense. Less than a 1-year multiple-entry charity VISA is USD 250.

We pay a USD 100 per month stipend to you. It is small but 2x Tanzania's national minimum wage. The minimum participation time is four weeks for the assistance.

Flights are a personal expense.

You and your visiting friends can enjoy low-cost, sustainable tours and safaris.

We need your tentative arrival and departure to book you in and open your account.
