Climate Change Adjustment Internship in Tanzania

Työtehtävän kuvaus Summary
Art in Tanzania is collaborating with a consortium of NGOs and private-sector partners to assess and develop solutions to the impacts of climate change on Tanzanian society.

Details
Art in Tanzania has operated since 1996. Our community placements attract approximately 250 participants each year. Our vision is to provide students with a hands-on experience working in developing African communities. In addition to your studies, you will enjoy an unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime experience of African culture and life, along with stunning natural scenery and diverse wildlife.

Approximately 75% of Tanzanians live in rural areas, and climate change is expected to significantly impact their livelihoods, which heavily depend on agricultural income.

The most vulnerable groups, including women, youth, and people with disabilities, are the most affected. This program adopts a multi-professional student approach to assess the current situation, explore future scenarios, and develop solution models.

On-field advocacy occurs in schools and communities.

We also utilise our social media platforms for advocacy efforts. Our Facebook page has over 50,000 followers.

You will help implement sustainable solutions, such as household solar installations, water reuse, and composting, while developing simple alternatives, such as homemade solar cookers.

The internship aims to apply your studies and experiences in a work setting typical of developing countries.

Work hours range from 6 to 8 hours daily, Monday through Friday.

The program is ongoing, so start dates are flexible. Your placement is customised based on your background, experience, and interests to help our daily community work.

Daily tasks encompass practical fieldwork, planning, reporting, and visibility work.

The start and end dates are flexible, as all programs are ongoing, with many having been in place since 1996.

You and your visiting friends can enjoy affordable, sustainable safaris and tours.

We typically have between 15 and 40 students from around the world. They hail from over 400 universities with which we collaborate, representing a diverse range of professions and disciplines.

Note that Erasmus+ funding can be applied for the Tanzania training. Contact your student office for more information about the grants.
